In his landscape paintings, David Rycroft chooses a wide double-square format in which to structure a panoramic composition. Depth is created using dynamic diagonal paths that lead the eye into the space as well as aerial perspective. These landscapes fall into two categories; one is urban, in which the space is brought to life with a collection of figures passing through. The other is rural, in which the expansive flow of nature is punctuated by the presence of villages.
