Paix Naturelle, or Natural Peace, is a collection of paintings in which David Rycroft aspires to bring about a change of mood in the viewer. The gentle movement within an overall stability allows the mind of the viewer to settle. Or, in the spirit of Matisse, the artwork induces in the viewer's mind a sense of comfort and ease.

However these are not 'easy' paintings; because of their ambiguity and intangibility, the viewer does not fixate on a concept of what the painting represents or what it is about. The peace that these paintings inspire is not dull or obvious, but precise and subtle.
