Paintings in the 'Warmth' series create atmospheres through the use of unusual colour harmonies. Here, David Rycroft uses the very qualities of the materials themselves to bring about a rich variety of gradations and subtle blending of layers. Inspired by the elements of chance and non-control in the 'automatic' Surrealism of Miro, the artist is merely a facilitator providing the conditions for the perfect accident to occur.
