As a homage to Poussin, David Rycroft plays on the title ‘Et In Arcadia Ego’ to express a central theme in his new work, ‘No Ego In Arcadia’.

In conversation with fellow contemplatives, David says “Arcadia is not necessarily a time or a place or even an idea. Arcadia is a state of mind where there is no fixation on the experienced world as being really 'out there' and no fixation on the experiencer as being really 'in here'. When fixation is released, even slightly, things don't disappear or become dull. On the contrary, nature's colours sparkle even more brightly and we can experience this dynamic display with appreciation and wonder, like looking at a rainbow or becoming lucid in a dream...
